It's not always how fast you go, it's what you experience along the way

5 Lakes Lodge brings a whole new meaning to the term SNOWMOBILING.

You'll be spoiled forever by some of the best groomed, and most scenic, snowmobile trails you will ever ride - the JoMary and Katahdin Region snowmobile experence.

"Rick and his crew of snowmobile trail groomers do an excellent job of making their trails the best they can be so that everyone gets to enjoy the beauty of the region. Thank you Rick and Debbie for the experience and the hospitality. We definitely will be back."

Larry and Eileen Lafland, Maine.

5 Lakes Lodge is located midway between ITS 86 and ITS 83 on the uncrowded "Katahdin Loop Trail". We serve as the home for the Jo Mary Riders Snowmobile Club, and have two big Bombardier trail groomers on site. Our dedication to trail grooming is second to none. Our trails are wide, flat and very well marked.

"First Tracks"

Although we're only seven miles from the town of Millinocket by road, by trail we're quite a ways from any of the other lodging facilities. Our guests enjoy the ability to get "First Tracks" out of the lodge on most mornings.

Each day after a fantastic breakfast in the kitchen, Rick would recommend a loop or a destination and know what we would expect for trail conditions along the way. With gas available right at the lodge, there was no need to travel into the more popular areas which always tend to get bumpy to fill up.

Karen and Terry Stanwicks, Connectticut.

  • Unique Snowmobile Lodging

"I always thought of myself as a very private person, not one to stay in a bed and breakfast type atmosphere, but Claire thought it was something we should try, and it turned out to be one of the greatest snowmobile trips of my life! Rick and Debbie made us feel like family! The food, our beautiful room (what a view)! and the other guests at the lodge were outstanding! Wow, I was so impressed with the lodge I almost forgot! The trails from the lodge were without question the best we ever traveled, and we have ridden all over the northeast for over ten years."

John and Clare Crum, New Jersey.

"We both agreed that the Jo-Mary Snowmobile Club's groomed trails were the best around. I give you the "Trail Groomer of the Year" award for my whole winter of trail riding - Jackman, Rockwood, NE Carry, Greenville and Kokadjo included. All were tops, but your trails were the best snowmobile trails in Maine. Best wishes with the lodge. No other lodging comes close in the entire Millinocket Lakes and Katahdin region. We were spoiled by our stay, and now I keep getting hounded to buy a bed like those super comfortable ones you have [update, I finally bought the new bed, but I'm still coming back]."

John Rust, Maine.

"We planned to stay for three days, but stayed for nine and made friends for lifetime! It was our first time venturing to Maine to snowmobile and only by luck did Karen and I find the best place to stay in Maine. Rick and Debbie are both ambassadors to the sport of snowmobiling and their lodge is built to support the sport in no way I've seen anywhere else in Maine or any other state. The basement with its wood stove is great place to store the riding gear and to warm quickly after a long ride.

After three days, we planned to leave the lodge and travel further northeast in Maine. Rick went out of his way to tell us where we should ride, what we should see and even assisted in helping us make lodging reservations. In the process of packing up to move on, I looked around our room and had a feeling like I was leaving home and leaving friends. I asked my wife how she would feel if we spent a few more days at the lodge and as you can imagine it took no more than asking the question and we were spending the entire week with Debbie and Rick."

Karen and Terry Stanwicks, Connectticut.

Natural Beauty

"It's difficult to conceive of a region uninhabited by man. We habitually presume his presence and influence everywhere . . . But here not even the surface had been scarred by man, but it was a specimen of what God saw fit to make this world."

Henry David Thoreau wrote that on his first visit to Mt. Katahdin in 1846. Not much has changed in the past 160 years.

Simply put, Maine's Katahdin Region is a very special place. Mother Nature has blessed us with an abundance of natural beauty; crystal clear lakes, lush forests, magnificent mountains and powerful rivers.

Small communities. Friendly people. A clean environment. No traffic. No crowds. No rat race. Abundant wildlife. And a myriad of recreational opportunities.

What more could you ask for?

Remote feeling, Yet convenient

5 Lakes Lodge is located directly on the Katahdin Loop snowmobile trail in the area known as the Katahdin-Jo Mary Forest.

Routes 11 & 6 form the boundary of the largest area of undeveloped wilderness east of the Mississippi River. And it's right at our doorstep.

Yet, we're conveniently located just 20 miles from I-95 (exit 244), 75 miles from Bangor International Airport, two hours from Bar Harbor and an easy five hour drive from Boston. Millinocket Regional Airport, with a 5000 ft. runway, is just 8 miles away. Charter flights are readily available.

"My girlfriend and I just returned from our snowmobile trip to 5 Lakes Lodge. We had a great time! I highly recommend anyone who is looking for a great place to stay to try out 5 Lakes Lodge, you will not be disappointed. The hosts Rick and Debbie are truly the nicest people, their honest suggestions and advice on where to ride, and eat, or where you may see a moose, they know how to do it right, we had such a great time. The lodge is amazing, with spectacular views. Thank you guys very much for one of the nicest get aways! We will vist again!"
